How To Enjoy Tour at Paris
When I was in Paris recently, I had two great Paris tours by boat which I can highly recommend.
The world is comprised of many cities and each has its own unique history. Certain cities, however, can be considered special because they have a rich history that is vastly different from other cities in the world. The extensiveness of the history and the richness of the culture create a landscape that is quote memorable and delivers an emotional impact to those who visit.
Berthillon makes great ice cream and has since 1954. It believes in natural ingredients and flavorings and uses no preservatives or any of that junk. It is usually closed during the last two weeks of August.
Twenty-five years later this historic station was torn down and replaced with the Tour Montparnasse (Montparnasse Tower) at the time Europe’s tallest building. Two years after it was built skyscrapers were banned in central Paris, but… Do you remember Guy de Maupassant’s joke about the Eiffel Tower restaurant (if not, see our article on the Seven Arrondissement article)? They make the same joke about the Montparnasse Tower.
The church on the island, St Louis en l'Ile, dates from the 17th Century and look out for the great iron clock at the entrance. The outside is a little unimpressive but inside it is glorious. Inside you'll see a statue of St Louis and he is holding a Crusader's sword. St Louis gave his name to St Louis in Missouri USA. The church is Baroque in style and is richly decorated.
Unless you are a Princess Diana freak, who can blame you for not wanting to tour a hospital once famous for its rats? You really shouldn’t miss the next sight, unknown to many. The Butte-aux-Cailles (literally quails hill) is located in the west end of the district, not far from the very busy Place d’Italie. The hill is about 200 feet (65 meters) and Cailles was the family name of the family who once farmed the land. In 1783 the first hot-air balloon carrying people landed on this little hill. It was one of the strongholds of the Paris Commune in 1871, memorialized in a city square by that name.
With its vast cultural heritage, travelers will walk through the history of the palace and its previous tenants. Included in the tour is a peek through the Grand Royal Apartments and the Queen's reserved quarters.
Enjoying kiddie attractions on your trip.
Paris sightseeing is not only for adults, but also for the little ones. Children can also benefit from the many restaurant options in Paris.
The best vantage point of the district is the Belleville Park which was opened in 1988. This expanse of land is tucked between Rue des Couronnes, Rue Piat, Rue Jouy-Rouve, and Rue Julien-Lacroix. Its grassy slopes extend all the way to the bottom of the hill. The park features The Air Museum, which offers its visitors a full explanation of how pollution affects our daily lives. Tourists can follow the guided tour in English.
